The carbon cartridge needs to be replaced more proactively than the multi spiral filter. We would suggest between 4 - 6 months, however for most households 6 months is adequate (1 - 4 persons). For larger houses or areas with very hard water, we would suggest once every 4 or 5 months.

When unscrewing the silver base, make sure to do this over the sink to avoid spillage. Then unscrew the filter cartridge and replace with the new one. Make sure to press firmly down as you screw the filter in to connect the thread properly.
